What is The Retro Den?

We're a small Wellington-based business that buys, tests, and resells retro games and consoles. Everything we sell has been checked and cleaned before it goes out the door.

What platforms do you carry?

We stock a range of classic systems including PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, and more. Our inventory changes regularly as new stock comes in.

Do you have a physical store?

We're online only, operating through our website and TradeMe store. All orders are shipped nationwide across New Zealand.

Shipping & delivery FAQ

How do you ship orders?

We ship via NZ Post with tracking on all orders. Shipping rates are calculated at checkout based on your location.

How long does dispatch take?

Orders are typically dispatched within 1–3 business days of payment being received.

Do you ship to rural addresses?

Yes, we ship nationwide including rural addresses, though rural delivery may take a little longer than standard.

Returns & refunds FAQ

What is your returns policy?

We offer a 14-day return window. If an item isn't as described or arrives faulty, get in touch and we'll sort it out.

What if my item arrives damaged?

We package everything carefully, but if something arrives damaged please contact us with photos and we'll make it right.

Do you offer refunds on change of mind purchases?

We handle these on a case by case basis. Reach out and we'll do our best to find a fair solution.

Item Condition & Testing FAQ

Are your items tested before being listed?

Yes - unless explicitly stated otherwise in the listing, all items are tested and confirmed working before they go up for sale.

What condition are your items in?

Most of our stock is pre-owned and will show some degree of wear consistent with age and use. We're upfront about condition in our listings and photos.

Can I request more photos before buying?

Absolutely. Just get in touch via our contact page and we'll send through any additional photos you need.

Do you sell brand new items?

Occasionally we'll sell brand new items - if any items are brand new, they'll be clearly marked as such.
